Sound Scapes Arril Johnson - Side Salad - Soundscapes
Sounds and sound effects have interested me most of my life. They are frequently integral to what we do in animation and general film making, but even alone they can evoke atmosphere and a range of emotions. What I started in secondary school with quarter inch tape and a three speed stereo recorder continues today. The motivation is partly professional, but is primarily rooted in the same sense of fun and curiosity. Details are given below of my new SoundCloud site which will allow me more freedom to explore and share the products of that curiosity.
The following two uploads differ in that one is purely abstract and made for pleasure while the second is narrative, includes speech, and is meant to accompany an animated visual.
The 'Moby Dick' soundscape was produced for use by Rumpus Animation in an interstitial prepared for an unabridged public reading of the novel at the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall.
It is a composite of five themed tracks; 'The Whale and Ahab', 'Rallying the crew', 'Queequeg's vision', 'Impact on the Pequod', and 'Death and Ishmael's salvation'.

It hosts additional Scratchtrack script readings, but even more of the ambient and soundtrack audio files. The format of that site also led to the necessity/opportunity to produce the accompanying images below and with each new upload ... more fun ...
