Short Films Arril Johnson - Side Salad - Short Films
The heading reads 'Short Films' and some of the short pieces embedded here were made as festival entries and some of those have been in festivals, but other items are technical or aesthetic experiments. I'm primarily an animator and, although the examples below are all live action, each one has animated effects woven into the mix.
The first example is footage of a life size partial Troodon model that I built several years ago for a natural history programme. It explores the post production application of animation to enhance the performance of the physical model with digitally animated insects and augmented eyes as a technical test.

The next film is a web festival piece called 'Considered Response'. A man is asked a difficult question, takes twenty-four hours to give an answer and even then isn't confident. We never know what that question was, but we do know that he takes a ridiculous amount to time to almost answer it .....

The following film, 'Physical Effects', is about the joys of low budget special effects film making ..... and people skills .....
Small film, big ideas, bigger ego .... and huge silliness ....

There are short festival pieces that I might post later .... some silly and some edgy ... but others are reflective and, although the recent death of my wife affects the significance of the following film, 'SUMMATION' grew out of my love of life and many remembered moments ....
